Urban Fox Press

Honesty - Integrity - Ability
www.urbanfoxpress.com/
Urban Fox Press has now closed.
The community arts organisation started in 2003 and based in Chatham, Kent, was a labour of love for Urban Fox founder, Dave Wise. The writer and photographer created small runs of high quality books, produced CDs, music festivals, gigs, art exhibitions and workshops; generally making Medway a better place for artists, performers and music and art lovers.

Many of the books were created and hand-stamped by Medway musician and artist Billy Childish and Dave.  As well as covering the Medway arts and music scene, from Billy Childish and Traci Emin (the above book Photo-Booth by Urban Fox featured self portraits and images of friends taken by the artist, Billy Childish, between 1977-2003) to The Prisoners, Thee Milkshakes and contemporary writers, Wolf Howard and Zara Carpenter. Urban Fox also published books inspired by the River Medway, and travel writing and pinhole photography from further afield, including Africa, Italy and Siam.

Urban Fox also produced a number of CDs featuring Medway musicians Pete Molinari, Billy Childish, The Len Price 3, Kid Harpoon, Dirty Backbeats, Lupen Crook, The Delaners, Kris Dollimore and Jim Riley.

A selection of books and CDs, are still available to buy from the online shop. Get them while you can: www.urbanfoxpress.com/shop/

Paris In A Day

The weekly flea market at Clignancourt (Puces St-Ouen de Clignancourt) is one of my favourite places for treasure hunting, not as crowded as London markets - although getting as expensive-  and full of fascinating finds, from the stall with literally thousands of kitsch keyrings from the '50s to the '90s to those 1930s armchairs you regret not being able to take home with you on Eurostar. Just as well window shopping, people watching and sight spotting in Paris is always more satisfying than buying stuff...
